Serene Salon & Spa is an Aveda concept salon located in a beautiful converted mill in Holyoke, MA.  The interior of Serene incorporates both the industrial, rustic feel of the mill and warm, modern design.  We strive to provide the total beauty experience that Aveda is renowned for. 



We chose Open Square for our home because we feel it best aligns with Aveda’s mission and our mission here at Serene.

Open Square is a zero net energy space due to the onsite renewable energy and the re-use of existing buildings making it the greenest location for our Salon. Open Square currently generates 500 kW of electricity through two hydroelectric generators. Not only does Open Square produce more energy than it uses; they actually feed enough electricity back to the city's grid to power over 100 homes.

We have used local artisans to create many of the focal points in our salon from our mirrors and store front to our front desk. Repurposed steel plate from Open Square was used to make our retail shelving and reclaimed lumber was used to make our mirrors.
